& for the seats, it may be worth looking at the diagrams on Servicebox & the Citroen equivalent to see if 306 seats will squeeze in.

What a cow to get the dash out of the 406, I started to label all the plugs from where they came from but in the end ive just taken the component they go in and left it plugged in
The loom on the exec is enormous, I was thinking of transplanting the entire car loom into the vtr, but that may turn out to be more complicated, but who needs air con in a track orientated car.
so i think il just remove the circuits i dont need. Hopefully il just be left with the basic loom to run the engine, dash, fuel pump, lecky windows, lights, alarm and central locking.
The loom for the climate control, electric seats, air con and rain sensor can all get binned. Although im not sure if the air con is wired through the engine loom and ecu?

Ive not done anything to the vtr yet bar an MOT, Im really impressed with the fuel consumption.
Ive been doing bits to the mrs 206 too, replaced both bottom arms and been having problems with the stepper motor. I went to the scrap metal yard earlier today and was amazed how light that 206 is, 880KG the book weight is something like 1020kg but it is the poverty spec model, doesnt even have powers steering It should be a bit more entertaining with the vtr lump in it

i mind that on the d9 i was breaking wires everywhere, and the dash even with all the bolts out i couldnt get it out.

I didnt have a security torx bit big enough for the steering column bolts so i had to undo the column at the steering rack and took it out with the dash, i could not believe how heavy it was
Been studying the wiring diagrams and the coolant fans seem to be controlled by the air con, will figure something out.

Little bit of an update, been away at work too much passed couple of weeks
Just been getting some bits together and putting the vtr through its test, Ive now got hold of a pug 306 D turbo front subframe, steering rack, hubs, driveshafts and anti roll bar.
The mrs 206 has been playing up something chronic After trying 2 different stepper motors on it ive had to completely rewire it back to the ecu, sorted idling out, now the coilpack is joining in the fun too just got to jkeep bodging it up till i put the vtr lump in it

Well ive not been on for a bit, but finally got rid of the estate after cutting it all up into boot sized pieces only using a big chisel, hammer and a hacksaw! Got the entire wiring loom out intact so thats a bonus. Ive stripped the back out of the xsara and according to the weigh bridge at work its lost 20kg so it now weighs in at a plump 1040kg there is still some more weight to come out yet.
I still need to get a DTurbo gearbox and clutch and then im just about set to get it all fitted.

Cutting up the 406 with hamer and chizel ibet you had sore hands afterwards,

ive chopped a few cars up in the past its hard work, Lump hammer and a sharp axe works a treat,

keep us all updated on the zara project mate, will be good to see this completed,

ive just bought one, but its a bit newer and more uglier than the model you have

They are a surprisingly entertaing drive even though mine is only currently 90brake. Im quite impressed with it really, should be well nippy with the tubby engine in it.

Travis, on the rear end of your zara on the axle have you got one long bar or 2?
just been looking underneath mine today and noticed two, ones black thick like scafolding and on top of it theres another one Bright red and thiner, , dont know what there called as a guess torsion bars or summat,

my 306 didnt have 2 just wonderd if someones added this,

Yeah, you have the big beam tube, then the torsion bars, one in front and one behind, and there is an anti roll bar inside the beam tube.

How could you do that to the pug? I mean seriously..

I took a scientific aproach to it, and i found rust. I cut the sills off and found the B post rusting where it meets the inner sill. Not good cos from the outside it looked mint. And when i cut the top of the b post the bottom came away quite easily. The at the front of the inner sills there was more rust. So the autopsy revealed something that everyone can be aware of. Get the waxoyl out boys. I felt a bit bad about cutting it up, but ive done the same to more exotic machinery before.
