Different size tyres front and back?!

Hi Everyone
I had to get both fronts replaced recently, size is 195/65R15.
I had a look around the rear tyres for good measure and noticed thay are 205/65R15's.
Now I've never noticed this before as it's usually either the front or rear pairs that I do at a time; is it a problem or should I get the rears changed for 195's at renewal?

What's it meant to have? I can't see it being a problem anyway. Different size tyres on an axle would be a problem but not front and back.

According to Autodata 195's front and rear. I have notice that I'm getting wear on the inner shoulder of the tyre and I had full alignment done last year after replacing all the links. I wonder whether it's related? Queer indeed.

I run 235's on the rear and 225's on the front of mine. The wear on the inner shoulder is because the alignment ensures that the rear wheels are pointing in the right direction forward (i.e. it adjusts the toe of the rear wheels) as well as the camber, however I have found on mine that when the wheels are pointing forwards, they still camber in a bit.

It would only make a major difference if you were running a 4wd car as it then puts extra strain on the diff as the axles are rotating at different speeds.

my whels had 195/60/15 but i changed them to 205/60/15
dont think there will be a problem having different front/rear
doesnt most sport cars have wider on the rear ?

To be fair, most sports cars have wider tyres on the rear as that's where they put the power down. Lets face it, we're never gonna have that sort of problem in a 406!

I dont think its a big issue in terms of running the car but Id say you'd save more fuel running 195's all round.

It is curious though, The tyres are wider but that also means that the wheels are wider. Dont you have Peugeot alloys?

Just because the tyres are wider does not mean that the wheels are wider, hence why VW boys can run mega stretch on their tyres. They fit 195 tyres onto 9.5" wide rims and stuff.

Yes they are, also the spare (this surprised me!)

In that case, I'd just put the 195's back on that the saloooooooon's are meant to have. They're cheaper too so perhaps you could justify some Pirelli's!

Yes they are, also the spare (this surprised me!)

Spare Alloy. Always a nice touch. My coupe has a spare steel wheel. The 607 has a fully fledged 17" 225 alloy in the boot. Unnecessary weight as you'll likely never use it and even if you do, you'll never leave it on full time.

I'm not sure an insurance assessor would like the odd tyres (if there are not factory spec)
