I've always said the 406 is very easy when it comes to MOT's, there's rarely any major issues, even the handbrake (which we all think is pants) usually scrapes through
Your Petrol engine is supremely reliable and simple so I'd hang on to it if your on a budget or in no rush to change up.

I am to be honest, quite surprised that mine had one issue, that said I did fix two issues before the MOT .....
Well done, it shows that it pays to keep up with maintenance etc.
Just hope my jalopy goes through in 6 weeks time, must do the handbrake......

Handbrakes really are a sore subject for these 406's aren't they?
Oddly, when I first got the car I realized the handbrake was not holding what so ever - which led to some incredibly hair moments I can tell you.
Left the old man, NOT done ANY work on the handbrake and now it's working perfectly.

Funny you mention the handbrake he said 406s are in his words shite :but if I go back when he isnt busy he will adjust it free of charge I have no intentions of getting rid yet and if I do in the future I will buy a later model
