I've found that the buzzer located on the rear side of the instument cluster has been been 'manually disabled' by one of the previous owners beyond repair (long story why i think they did)
the one i have is the same as this:
and an ebay listing said the part number for a one on a listing is 6101pp
but when i look at service box for my vin VF38BRFNAxxxxxxxx it shows this cluster:
and part number 6104 W3
do i have the wrong instrument cluster in the car??? also if i do buy a second hand one off ebay etc is the milage stored within the bsi or something or will a replacement show up the donor cars milage???
Either Service Box is wrong or someone's replaced your dials at some point (the same butcher that broke the buzzer?) I think the latter as it would be odd for a GLX to only have 4 dials.
Someone please correct me but I think the miles are stored on both BSI and the dials and it'll add the two together (off for a search...)
oooooooook, the plot thickens - can anyone confirm? anyone with a glx out there?
if it helps it has 2 connectors that plug into it, one white and one black.
also, is that the right part number for the 5 dial set that i managed to pull off service box?
the 'butcher' also removed 12 of the instrument panel bulbs - one of them just happened to be the cat converter warning light - which just so happened to be causing my anti-pollution fault..... i suspect that also maybe why the buzzer was broken? does it sound off when there is a problem???
Ah, wrong again I thought my D9 was pretty much poverty spec but it has 5 dials and chrome surrounds Do us a favour Puggy, go into Service Box and see what dials it says.
There's no point fitting an oil temperature gauge if there's no sender...

I've changed my thinking. my car has been recording trip info to itself for the last 9 years and then i put in a trip comp I have no doubt at all that a five gauge cluster would work. i'm a betting man too
