Ok Ok I'll watch the flipping England match.....

Post by Welly »

*feels confident enough that other members will concur, otherwise just ignore me*

Saturday evening arrived and I could hear air-horns a'blowin and see flags a'wavin in my area.....people gathered for BBQ's, Televisions were removed to the Gardens, Volumes were turned up, 'Ooo's and Arrgh's were shouted....

Her indoors invited me (instead of me watching what I want in 'my' lounge) to watch the match in the interest of my son (cos that's what Dad's are supposed to do  ) so reluctantly I sat and watched the England game :|

Now I have to say that I could tell England seemed to have the ball more than USA so maybe they were the better team but no matter what was going on on the pitch there was a far far worse a problem for me........THE NOISE !!!!!!!

Thanks to thousands of Vuvuzela trumpet things I began to feel weiry, confused and wanted to escape pronto. I kept asking "what the hell is that noise"?? "what possible use is it"? "how can they play with that racket going on"?

On the News last night they interviewed some South African world cup representative in a kinda "would you kindly keep the noise down" style :supafrisk: and all he said was "hey, you're in Africa, we play the vuvuzela, get used to it"

Lastly, why can't they just save all the expense and trouble and just present Brazil with a certificate to say they are the best team and leave it at that?

I totally concur welly old bean !! The England game was the final nail in the coffin
for me that day .
I am not a football fan , I played and watched rugby in my teens and early twenties
( a proper mans game imho ) but i relent come the world cup to add my support to
the national side , if they qualify haha . The day of the england match proceeded
thus .
I was filled with enthusiasm as i was going to fly the radio controlled spitfire that
i had been putting together over the last 6 months , nearly 7ft wingspan , 30cc
4 stroke engine ,retractable undercarriage etc etc . Off i went to the field , pre
flight check the plane , start up , taxi out , take off , half a circuit, radio lock
out ,stand watching spit hit the ground at around 50 mph and disintigrate .
Total cost around £1150 , look on my face priceless
Never mind i thought , i shall go home and drown my sorrows watching england
rip the fookin sh*t out of USA , Pah some fookin hope !! i hope the england
team's flight tickets are return any day , i needed cheering up not fookin burying,
And then there was the noise , oh that fookin noise , what an assault on the senses,
and i do not believe that in this day and age they can not filter it out , fookin wankers !!
Welly my sympathies lie with you

Balls to the football, that's tragic mate! :(

Football, a game of two halves. Yeah right, two halves make a HOLE. Overpaid players that haven't got the intelligence to be streetsweepers in the real world, big business, big money, bribes, bribes and more bribes, football somehow elevated to the level of a religion in the minds of otherwise sane people, sponsorship, season tickets you need a second mortgage to pay for, on the telly on all f*cking sides, advertising, advertising, yet more advertising I am sooo past sick of it

you know what you can do with your f*cking vuvuzela

And.... relax.

I fully agree with you on that one they're annoying as hell, im amazed any of the players can still hear, i was in the "fortunate" position to what the match in a pub, in between trying to pour pints. and had two muppets with the damn horns in there too, of which the main culprit was informed if he were to blow it again the next time he would get any sound out of it would be an amplified fart. I will be suprised if theres not anything done about them though.

I expect the German team have been acclimatised to the vuvuzela, as well as the dodgy Adidas ball.

Perfect preparation and all that....

Cheers welly for starting this thread ,and thanks to steve and doggy and
of course the others who have taken part , its good to know that this place
is here to help us to forget our woes and to make us smile :D :D .
*thats enough of blubbery sentiment dont want you to think i've turned

Now about this fookin football !!! when did it become popular and very nearly
acceptable to use bad acting to get a free kick , penalty or even worse someone
sent off .
What kind of fookin lame arsed sportsman could be happy knowing he won by
cheating ??? Why do referee's let them get away with it , why do commentators
not slam it for the blatant cheating that it is , or does it all come down to money
yet again , i suspect so . I despair at the world we live in and wonder sometimes
if , during the cold war it would have been such a bad thing if someone had pressed
the button
Ranting over , i shall now carry on building the hurricane i have , glutton for punishment ,
me !! never .

Puggy, you must have been gutted watching all your hard work and expense crash helplessly like that - the air would have been blue if I'd have done it and I'd have been in a grump for days :frown: hopefully you can salvage most of it and kinda work from there?

Footy-wise, I think they should be banned for spitting/gobbing all over the place (why do you need to do that anyway?) is it any wonder why the kids all love gobbing all over the place?

And yes, the injury-acting is superb! they act like babies
