They always look like they've got some Rancho in their ancestry somewhere.

When my dad was looking to buy an MPV Wartho... sorry, Multipla was on his list:
Me: "But they're ugly dad!"
He: "They've got good reviews."
Me: But they're really ugly dad!"
He. "Loads of room in them."
Me: "But it's all up top - it's a car for people with big hats!!"

He bought a Zafira

It would be interesting to see one going down the road containing 4 people wearing those massive Cavalier hats with the feathers and whatever.

It's considerably less hideous, but still a lack of boot space, I suspect - so not a huge amount of point to it.

the disco isnt an ugly car, its quite allright looking, but i suppose its no looker like a 406. The other suggestions are quite good, i intentionally left the multipla out because it would just naturally find its way in to such a discussion. What about the panda is it an ugly car, heres my old one i admit a bad colour and trim combination but nothing to really make you sick like the panamera:

Would you describe this as an ugly car, or just a bad colour?

A few more ugly ones:
seat altea and the xl one
skoda favorit
the LADA
vw beetle old and new
mazda 3 and 6
vw bora
tata pickup

I saw one of those mk3 Ashtray saloon today, just stick a boot on it, no-one'll notice  And which Corset was it where it suddenly looked like a fat pig? Thanks Wiki, the mk5, looks like it only lasted 2 years before it became the mk5b, for some reason...

What do you expect from a car commissioned by Adolf Hitler? It was a very early attempt at aerodynamics, and remember - Beetle->356->??? I'll admit the new beetle is a big mistake, imagine if more cars came out based on classic 1930's design, we'd have much to laugh at. Still, at least the Fiat Mickey Mouse redo isn't anything like the original.

The Austin Allegro: This is the best example left in the UK

I don't think the Panda is an ugly car, maybe slightly awkward from some angles. Where the back passenger window meets the rear window looks like an after thought :?:

2009 Citroen C5 2.0 HDi VTR+ Estate (godawful heap)
2008 BMW E91 330i touring (great fun - murdered by a reversing SUV)

Every peugeot since the 406 its quite true, yes i think the 406 was the last great looking peugeot, the 504 coupe, and 205 were ones of the past but i dont think everything since the 406 is ugly the 407 isnt too bad especially the coupe in black, or the estate, but then theres the hideos stuff like the 308, the 207, and the 807.
Another one ALFA ARNA everyone will agree,
but this next comment will i know be like saying the godfather was a bad movie (which it isnt) the mito isnt great either nor is the guileita, i think alfa has peaked with the 159 all the rest even the 8c isnt great.

When I was a teenager along side Fiat, who made boxy easiliy forgettable cars and Alfa Romeo which made tiny impracticable sports cars, there was Lancia. Lancia made fairly stylish cars, my own favourite was the Beta HPE:

the final models of which were supercharged. There was also the Thema 8.32, with its V8 32 valve Ferrari engine and who could forget the Delta HF Integrale? Sadly they all fell apart with the pox, so did Fiats and Alfas, but sales were so bad they stopped selling them in the UK.

However, they still sold them in the rest of Europe. Unfortunately design seems to have been handed over to some drunk who staggered in off the street.

Ladies and gentlemen, I present the Kappa:

The Lybra:

The Thesis:

And the Y:

Why?

The latest range can be seen on Wiki's Lancia page. Take your pick

I dunno who designed these hideous cars but surely there's a lamp post somewhere with his name on it...

you gave me a picture of the HPE and wow that is one beauty of a car, its like a alfa gtv im saving that as my desktop its that good. My cousin has an integrale as well as a few spares deltas i have seen how bad the rust is on a bad delta for my own eyes its shocking, but on the good ones theres not a spot. Ive never had a really old italian car to experience the problems they had, but they were so good looking i couldnt care, my fiat never gave a moments trouble so the italians i think can do build quality. But styling is something lancia lost.

the question to ask about italian car companies is what ones arent part of fiat, because fiat own:
fiat
iveco
lancia
maserati
alfa
ferarri (dont try to pull birds in the panda with this fact it still doesnt work)
all these companies are under fiat but i think they all are allowed their own direction on styling
Lambo is under vw and i think thats it all covered

next ugly car the kia soul

That was just the first clear pic I came across, I'm sure you could find a better one.

I drove one of those in Canada and quite liked it (especially the bit where we took it off road :supafrisk: ) but I can't imagine what they'd be like in the UK, sort of like a reverse Tardis - much bigger on the outside than it is on the inside.
