No power to radio?
Hey all. Inherited the keys of a 406 exec estate last week (Y Plate) and been tasked by mother-in-law to get it up and running. It was a non-runner on the 29th Dec and after several jump starts, we realised the battery was finished. This was promptly replaced with a fresh one and the car cruised 300 miles to its new home. All the key components seem to be working though not tested the cruise control. What is puzzling me is that there appears to be no power to the Clarion radio unit and Auto-changer. Have checked the number 10 fuse and it's tickety boo. With the ignition turned on, not only will the radio not come on but I also cannot eject the autochanger. There are no messages suggesting the radio is looking for a code so I am somewhat baffled. Any suggestions?

Fuse 25, (passenger fusebox), may also be involved.
Do the other functions on your MFD work, (clock, trip computer, outside temp)?

Re: No power to radio?
have you had the radio out and checked the wires behind it ?
the person you inherited it may have had it out and not connected it back up,
worth a try mate ,

Re: No power to radio?
Not tried fuse 25 but will check it tonight. All other MFD info seems to be working fine. When I managed to get the car running briefly prior to changing the battery, there was no life in the radio then either.

Re: No power to radio?
you really need another radio that you know works and test that in the car
then you can rule out sum problems,

Re: No power to radio?
It's a D9, which makes that sort of thing a tad more complicated.

Re: No power to radio?
Needs converters and/or attacking with a pair of wire cutters on a D9. May as well use a light bulb to test for power.

Ok, fuse 25 is alright too. Without getting hold of a replacement head unit, any other ideas?

Re: No power to radio?
if i remember rightly wen i bought my 406 2 years ago
the radio had a faulty power button ? maybe check that,
keep poking and prodding it for 5 mins see if that works,
with mine im sure you had to press it a certain way to make it power on

Re: No power to radio?
you can try another radio, they only bleep really loudly.
Re: No power to radio?
The changer should be run from the cabin fusebox, and have no connection to the BSI so it's either fuses (some of them are wired up in "interesting" ways - mine's upside down - so don't trust the handbook!), or their connectors have been unplugged
