Deposit down on new car.

Post by DiscoPol »

Well i paid my deposit today on my new car,

went for the C5 Tourer in the end, 2.0 HDi but they have squeezed 143bhp out this time and through the 6 speed box it feels far too nippy for a HDi :cheesy:

should be taking delivery in about a weeks time, then i have to persuade the MFD to talk in English not the native French or second choice Polish  that should be fun as i reckon the manual is going to be in Polish, so maybe time to start looking for a pdf of the English one now

As soon as its here (as long as the rest of the process doesnt take too long) i will get some piccys up with my review of said motor

yes without uppy downy :| and with DPFski :( ,

but thats coming out as soon as its out of its warranty period, about 12 months left as its a year old now so hopefully before it blocks or needs a re-fill, already priced a remap  and the two jobs can go together :cheesy:

cant wait tbh, im sat in the disco now recharging the battery again as its minus 12 here at the mo and it only takes a few short runs in the disco and the battery dies, its the bloody oil thickening up at -10 and below it really takes it out of the starter motor and hence kills the battery dead after about three starts without long runs between to recharge the bugger :(

a quick edit, its the 160bhp model with the 6 speed manual box not bloody 143, never trust a women to translate such details! i had to google the bloody thing to find that out and that was after i the garage gave me a copy of the documents for the thing
(of course in Polish though)

Still having issues with the leasing company at the moment, nothing is straight forward here but i can feel it getting closer though

Leasing here is a little different from what we would consider leasing in the UK, i was completely baffled by the terminology at first too.

what they call leasing here is effectively Hire Purchase of old, they will accept cars of up to 2 years old maximum and then only from Main Dealers with a warranty for the whole time of the lease deal, in my case it will be a 3 year deal with a final payment of 1 zloty as a token purchase price.

If i was to buy the car outright with cash or a loan from the bank then i would not be able to offset the cost of the vehicle against my tax liability outright, but if i take the car on a "lease deal" over 3 years i can offset the whole monthly lease cost against my tax demand, included in the lease price will be full OC+AC insurance(equivalent to fully comp) and roadside assistance and recovery.

the whole idea of the "lease deal" was set up especially for the small company or self employed over here to be able to offset costs, Poland as a nation of 38 million or so has a higher than average percentage of self employed or small business people compared to the rest of Europe, it is a result of newly acquired freedoms and abilities since the reformation back in 89, i believe that currently over 15% of the population is classed as either a small business owner or self employed thats nearly 5 million people out of a total population of only 38 million and a lot of them are old or below working age.

The term leasing is indeed a misnomer for most people, as essentially leasing is long term hire with a purchase option at the end normally, here it is simply a tax dodge.

Of course not being Polish is making the job twice as difficult when the job was already bloody difficult to start with, they love their paperwork and trust absolutely no one.

My deposit is down and the garage wont sell they car to anybody else and seem to just accept that its going to be a long process, i have heard horror stories of it taking anything up to 2 months to sort these things out before, if thats the case i will have to hire a car soon as the Disco is starting to need some tlc but i will be buggered if im gonna spend on it now when i hopefully will have a new car soon.

As for spec of the vehicle Farmer, its a C5 Touring "Attraction", cloth seats and steel wheels (my choice due to the bad roads) but with all the other extras as it was owned by Citroen as a demo car before. in Silver metallic with black interior, Cruise control, bluetooth, lane detection, park assist, yadda yadda yadda, oh and that cocky steering wheel :)

its not me, honest guv.

but yeah the Disco has taken a battering this winter, it needs new track rod ends, steering arms, new shocks and springs, really needs a couple of new stub axles, etc etc etc all running gear jobs, i have kinda approached the roads with a wild abandon as i knew or thought the Disco could take it, but evidently not.

Some of the roads have miles of unending pot holes up to 6 inches deep and i have just been ploughing through as at the time i was planning on a suspension lift and full bush replacement so thought it wouldnt do any harm to fully kill what was left of the old sussy set up, i just have to coax it through the next few weeks till i can get the C5

fingers crossed i can get the C5, either way i will be driving something else in the next few weeks.
