So i got the broken sat nav screen:
thats it on inverted mode to show how broken it is.
and then i tried to fix it:
which has not worked.
Has anyone ever tried to repair these screens, is it always a case of just buying one.
Is there a model number on the screen itself (not the MFD unit as a whole, but the actual LCD screen component)?
If so, maybe you can buy a screen to replace the one in that MFD unit for less than the cost of another MFD unit.

On the screen bit, as that's what you'd want to be replacing. I reckon the LCD on your MFD unit is duff, not just the ribbons.

Peugeot bought the things from another company. They may be used in other applications (calculators, franking machines, photocopiers, faxes, etc), so if you get the manufacturer's name and part number from the actual screen, it may be possible to track down the company and either buy a new one, or find another product that contains the same screen and cannibalize it.

Siemens makes this screen.
Sagem makes the type b one.
So in essence what has happened here is that when the french use french parts in the case of the sagem unit it works perfectly. But with german parts it gains a reputation for breaking down, essentially the k series of digital displays.

How many pins are there on the standard Glass screen too the Sat nav ones?
im talking about the printed circuit ribon part
if there the same amount of pins couidnt you just change the Glass over from a standard one ?
Dont know if its Doable but you seem to have the Heating tool so thought its worth pointing out but most probs youve already thought of that Already
the type b display has a much lower resolution than the type c the pixels on the type b are about 4 times the size of a pixel on the type c thats why so much more fits onto the screen.
ar rite,
Thats that idea flunked then
can you not check out a 406 that as sat nav display on a fourcourt somewhere and take it for a Sneaky test drive?
you can always then tell em you dont want it because the display dont work
