abs

Hi i am a new owner of a 406 hdi executive.I have had the car only 4 weeks and already the clutch has needed doing!now the abs light is on and it has taken me a week to find that the drivers drive shaft is a non abs one! As money is running out on this car I am going to fit a second hand shaft .Can anyont tell me if driveshafts for all models are the same as there is a 406 in the local scrappy but its a different diesel engine to mine?

Hi there

I would have thought the 2.1td's drive shafts would be the same but apparently not Are you sure it's not just missing the toothed ring? They sometimes crack due to rust building up behind them, if so then there's a guy selling just the rings on ebay.

I am just learning about 406's so how can I tell if the ring has broken off? as opposed to the wrong driveshaft fitted

Good idea I will do that tomorrow assuming that the passenger side has a ring of course

yup the nearside has a ring on the driveshaft so I will have to order up and try and fit a ring to my driveshaft

I have now put a ring on the drive shaft but the dash is still showing abs fault.Do I need to get the dash message knocked off or do I have another abs problem?
