Is there a list of all cars in order of their insurance groups? so that one can see at a glance which ones are in group 1, group 2, etc?
Cause it seems to me that you need to be looking at cars by their insurance group.
And dont forget, any cheap car is a lot better than walking in the rain.

I remember reading the book version when looking a car, and narrowed down things like the Cinquecento, AX, Clio 1.2 etc. because they had very low insurance groups.

The AX looked nice but had 4 different sized wheels, and changed gear like a stick in a vat of coal and toffee.

Agreed with most of your post there but I noted that with some cars full cover is cheaper than 3rd or 3rd + fire and theft. Main problem is I can't allow myself to be seen in a cinquecento or however you spell it (Damn, Fiat. Couldn't you just call it the Crap-500?) I've grown up around cars and I've never really thought of having a crap one, it'd just kill me.

The process is unaccountable; the premiums quoted might as well be produced by a random number generator. It does rather stink of a cartel.

Granted there is a problem with "compensation" pay-outs.

Plan B: increase road tax by a factor of 3 or 4 and include third party insurance.
