Hi,
Looking at my car on the flat it seems to lean slightly to the driver’s side (sorry I did ask this before but could not find the thread I started)
I checked the springs to see if they had snapped at the bottom, and as far as I can see they have not. The mechanic thinks it is because the car has had only one driver in it for years and may have cause the springs to remember the positions (so to speak), he must have been one fat bas*tard.
Neh way any other ideas?
Can I easily replace the springs at the back myself? (P.s I am rubbish at fixing anything mechanical)
Many Thanks for your help
Andy
NB; hope you all have a good weekend

Any hoo, The fat f*cker (see I swear properly) I don't think is the answer, sure you might get a 5mm difference over the years on the drivers side but I would very carefully check the bottom of the springs like I did.
You've got to have the rear wheels off and check the very last bit of spring in the cup at the bottom mine was snapped off leaving about a 40mm long bit in the bottom.

Hi,
) i would replace the two front springs as well. I got some german spings for mine (k something) they have a thick black plastic/rubber cover over the sping which stops it snapping again.
Just a heads up i had to get some new spring holdy things as well, as when my rear spring snapped it damaged the holdy thing (lol tech term s)
), i replaced both rear springs in 1 1/2hrs and cost £80 for the spings and £7.00 each for the holdy things

Nope they are the same, if you have loads of cash (i have not good old studentis their any difference between the D8 and D9 rear suspension or is it all the same?

IMO you did it wrong (you did jack the car uphad my car lowered ,the rear springs are a bastard to replace, its officially a 4 hour job, most of the rear suspension has to be dismantled.thats with a qualified mechanic 30 years and all necessary tools/equipment.

yep its shouldnt be that hard as long as you don't mess it up or break anything its pretty straightforward fitted 40mm drop springs + shoocks last week (the tie-rod came off in two bits tho so needed a new one) not all that impressed gna get a set of the spax 55mm springs when i have the cash
Assumptions are the mother of all F**k ups.
