Its purely because of the costs involved.Harshan wrote:Sad to see an end of a nice D8. Howver, I feel the write-off policy is bit too strict as if this accident would've happened here, both cars would've repaired nicely as not major structural damages
Thanks for all the trouble in explaining. Yeah, understood why it's not financially viable, however, what if the car has some sentimental value attached to it? would insurer consider giving a claim?sirwiggum wrote:Its purely because of the costs involved.Harshan wrote:Sad to see an end of a nice D8. In the UK garages charge a fortune for their services, and old cars are cheap.
So when a repair (doors + respray + straightening out B pillar) may cost £1500 but the car is valued by the insurance company at perhaps £1000, it doesn't become economically viable!
The fiesta is probably worth about £300, with the Ford rust around the wheelarches, and repair for it is proably going to be £700 at least.
Has it got a sunblind? and if so are the clips any good?Pilch wrote: Suffice to say, courtesy car arriving later on, gotta strip bits outta the pug - anyone want/need anything? 1999 D8 Salon - 1.8 Obviously not from the drivers side!!
