Bailes1992 wrote:Why is nothing simple. Walked 2 miles with a very heavy hub to motorfactors, got the bearing and walked a further mile to the garage to have it pressed in. Turned out to be the rear bearing instead of the front one. Another mile to motorfactors to make sure I get the right bearing. Then it turned out the driveflange on my new hub is f*cked so goto take off my old hub, take it to the garage so they can remove the drive flange on the old hub and fit it to my new one :(
why am i laughing?

I think so, this bolt is an absolute twat!
It's welded in position is such a way that the taper is stuck closed so I cant even force the ball joint out.
I have hit the bolt so hard trying to get it out it has squished and 'Bulbed'.
I have nackered the end of this bolt up so much I can no longer put the nut back on the end

Keep soaking the bolt in Wd40 itwill come out,
ive had this problem on mondeos, where someones put the bolt in the wrong way,
if the bolts knackerd all ready - Put a solid bar against the edge of the thread and whack it with a Lump hammer,

Hang on a minute: iirc isnt the end of the bolt a Torques not a bolt type,. they are on mondeos not sure on the focus but irember some had to be twisted out they wouidnt tap out.

what is the end on the bolt is it torques or bolt head?

Only the end of the bolt has a thread on it. It should tap out but aint budging. May have another go tommorow. Worth getting a blow torch on it?

And it's a Torx which I've pretty much rounded out

The hubs scrap anyway, tempted to just get a drill and drill the bastard out

:arrowu: Blow torch might help but you might end up cooking the ball joint up,

Get a solid bar you can use as a punch and whack it it will go eventualy, dont give up keep trying

Would explain quite a lot if I was!
Cars feeling really tight on one side now.
Unfortunatley I've skinted myself in the process. Going to have to wait till I start work before I can get the other sides lower arm sorted.
