Out of the box the 406 brakes are pretty good. I have owned 20 cars and the 406s (D9) was one of the better brake equipped cars I have owned. Still I decided to fit Brembos. I think there is a bit of dis-info about brembos.

Fitting Brembos is not a waste of time (if you dont mind the expense) They are very noticable when fitted, you stamp on the brake pedal the same as you did with stock brakes and you would leave your teeth in the steering wheel! They are very potent

Yes they are expensive, but they are for a reason, because they are a fast road brake setup. When I fitted mine I fitted a Goodbridge brake hose kit that did front and rear pipes, brembo discs front and rear and brembo pads front and rear. Just to point out there is no brake squeal whatsoever - I dont know where this talk of brembos squealing comes from, mine dont at all, cold or warmed up or even when I am having a hoon down country lanes they do not squeal - I suspect people are fitting crap discs and pads and getting squeal.

I might add, My mate has a 300ZX twin turbo pushing 400hp and he runs the same brembo brakes - no issues at all and no squealing either.

They will fit under 16'' rims but you have to be carefull which ones. The brembos didnt fit under my 16'' Hoggars because the offset was 20 as opposed to 12. However I put some aftermarket rims on with an offset of 15 and they cleared fine.

Cost for brembo upgrade (for my car) :-

Brembo calipers - £188.00 (won ebay auction. Pistons and seals all good)
Braided hose kit - £70.00 (ebay)
Brembo pads frnt - £36.00 (ebay)
Brembo 305mm discs - £98.00 (ebay)
DOT 4.1 Fluid - £10.00

Total = £402.00

All prices included delivery

Your brakes are the same as the 306gti6 so all the popular brands for those will apply for yours too. Good quality discs and EBC pads are good, I've used greenstuff and yellowstuff pads with excellent results. Good quaity brake fluid also helps. My old 2.1 was awesome I loved it. Although I could still get the brakes to fade, but that was when I won a half hour track session at donnington lol!

It comes from nearly every owner of a V6 coupé. Mine squeal like a bitch and I've got Brembo pads+discs fitted.

If I had the time and money to spare I'd retro-fit the standard 406 callipers to mine - at least they are sharp and don't need a full force stamp to get the abs to kick in

Those "Tacoma" alloy wheels are VERY nice, still spitting that Peugeot didn't make more of them because I'd have loved a set of those on either of my 406s.

250 Euros is an awful lot for a set of OEM wheels, really, but they are definitely the best-looking OEM alloys ever fitted to a 406 Coupe (in my opinion). In comparison, I just spent £240 (including delivery) on a set of pre-owned 19" Mille Miglia T2 wheels & tyres from Ade1122.

I expect to get around £75 - £100 (if I'm lucky) for the Hoggars I currently have for sale. They're not perfect, and the tyres were on the car when I bought it last year, so I know that they've done at least 12,000 miles. Not sure about the tread depth, will need to check in with my brother as they're stashed in his garage.

Not here. 250€ is cheap. Standard wheels can easily go for 400€. And the Tacomas are extremely rare.
