IAT Ssensor

HI All
Need t reolace the IAT Sensor, I know it must be near the Air Inbtrake soewhere, but haven't a clue :shock:
Any advice? diagrams and photos gratefully accepted :D

the IAT Inlet Air Temperature sensor is located within the MAF - the Mass Air Flow meter / sensor

The IAT therefore cannot be changed separate to the Mass Air Flow sensor / meter and has to be renewed as one unit.

It's on the throttle body Jez, I got one for about a tenner.

I had same as you with a P1113 code (and a P0403 EGR) got an IAT sensor off the bay for £8 should have it tomorrow (same as Citreon C5 same part number), worth a try first, but seems it may be the EGR, so gonna try farmers trick with Wynns Petrol EGR Cleaner?

Same symptons and code as you, hope its not the rail, but has a faily new HP Fuel Pump?

I'll see if I canfind it in the rain tomorrow 8)

Hello Dai

Well called the men in Yellow vans twice today :cry: and got towed home! :supafrisk:

Same Error codes all to do with EGR Valve! P0403
Cleared them 3 or 4 times and kept coming back the same so 99% that is the problem.

First AA man blanked off the EGR worked for a while then gave up, second one just said where do you want to be towed too as the EGR had gone :?

IAT Sensor changed and that fault disappeared for good (Only £7.12 off the bay) wish the EGR was the same though, I know not :shock:

£147-£160 new or £60+ used with a 90 day warranty. Not that bad really could have been worse I suppose, but at least I have had new a Valve Solenoid, HP Fuel Pump, Cambelt and Inginition block fitted by the last owner, so the EGR was going to give up sooner or later, and from waht I have read nearly always about 100,000 + miles (mines on 107k) and its started at 103k 8)

From the threads I have read on our site and others, it nearly always seems to be the EGR, AA guys said it is one of the common faults on modern cars that they deal with.
They are better now, but in 02 the first Petrol cars to use them 'with' all the sensors as well............ so problamatic, once fixed should go on for another 100k :D

Hope it can help others diagnose similar fauts in the future.

Not necessarily.

Unplug the IAT and no matter how many times you clear the fault, you'll see it come back every time you switch on the ignition. The car will drive fine without it though.

You're reading the codes wrong. They are *symptoms from the ECU's point of view*, not causes.

My V6 recently kept dying, and every time faults would come up saying all 6 injectors had failed as well as the TPS. I didn't replace all the injectors and the TPS because the computer said so, I replaced the faulty relay which could cause the above to fail. I then replaced the corroded earth wire which would cause the relay to break... £5 fix and a bit of work instead of £1000 or so just because I didn't take the fault codes at face value.

thanks for the advice 'mjb' i'll give it a try and change the relay first, not entirely sure where it is though?

In fact it did say 'open circuit' so hopefully that is it, however have picked up a used EGR for £38 if that doesn't work then we know for sure.
Also my EGR as fitted looks a new and is very clean ummmmm..... :supafrisk:
