You'd be right - the EW10 J4 engine would have appeared in:
Citroen C4 and C5
Peugeot 206, 306, 307, 406 and 407
If it's the older XU10 J4R engine, you could source one from:
Citroen Xantia
Peugeot 306, 406, and 806
I wonder how easy it would be to source / fit an EW10 J4S engine - those were fitted to the Peugeot 206 RC, 307 Feline and the Citroen C4 VTS, and had a 177 HP power output (better than my 2.2 EW12 J4!) - could make for an interesting project car, and quite possibly one you might want to keep rather than sell on.
At any rate, Ade1122 is definitely the man to speak to concerning a replacement 2.0 lump for any age of Coupe.

The moving parts of the engine basically melted due to a lack of lubrication. I wonder if he ever checked the levels of anything other than the petrol tank
