abs reluctor ring likely cost & anyone know part no?

Post by thejimmy »

Hi, been reading through posts for this - extremely helpful.

I've got my beloved v6 saloon 02 plate booked in next we1ek to have the abs reluctor rings fixed/replaced, and was wondering if any of you extremely helpful chaps would know offhand the likely cost I should expect to pay. :?

I've been warned by a friend that they may have to replace some or all of the driveshaft and sensors if they are ker-nackered as well?

Incidentally - I had the brake servo replaced last year at a garage that I w1asn't too sre about in nottingham and was w1ondering if they might have 'geared' something else to go w1rong such as this to give them a nice little earner? - (yep - I'm a paranoid customer when it comes to motors)

- This time I'm taking it to a highly recommended repairer in mansfield (a few miles up t' road) in the hope they wo1n't rip me off.

Any help or advice v much appreciated, btw - may I say w1hat splendid taste you gentsll have in motors - (creep-creep)
I love my v6 - had it for a couple of yrs and its a little rocket off the line - certainly puts the boy racers in thier place in thier little hatchbacks.

Thanks again.

Can't help on cost, but there is an extremely helpful guide on the coupe club, that is linked to when ever this topic comes up, if you fancy having a go yourself

There is an article on the very issue in the KBA
Did them myself, pretty cheap considering.

Just bought a new ring from ebay (hoping it's the rght one!) http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/160733384888? ... 1497.l2649

I'm feeling a bit lazy so I've taken the car into my local mechanic to have the ring fitted today, so hopefully everything will go well and I'll be able to tell you how much it cost in a few hours.... :supafrisk:

Had two new drivshafts on mine 2 years ago. Cost was just under £300 but there is no 'rings'. They are molded into the CV joints.
