Dci engines, fuel filter

Hi all
anyone on here had a car with a dci engine? wether it be nissan /renault etc,

does anyone know how to change the fuel filter?
ive had alook and im baffled , the housing looks all one peice dosent split to remove filter
anyideas?

The old man had a DCi in his Navara, I think it was a big hex key like a T30 that opened the top, was awkward to get at though.

Also, the conrod blew which is a common fault on DCis in Navaras, check yours isn't affected!
Well serviced engine just blew to bits on him one day on the motorway! Because it didn't have full dealer service history, Nissan weren't interested.

fuel housing is very easy to get to, its just clipped to inner wing,
theres no notches or or any places on it to put a spanner ,

As of the engine, Theres a rev limiter on it, unlike some of the earlier ones, downfall is its not something you can throw about like the hdi,
as it wont over rev, theres no way you couid kill one of these engines idont think, not if its restricted

Is that the Megane that needs to go through the wing to get at the headlight?
Though I can't talk, one of the sidelights is out on the Honda and the manual says to go through the wheelarch liner to get at it!

The D22 issue seems to be related to weak bolts - http://www.navaraownersclub.com/2009/10 ... e-problem/

Shouldn't affect a Renault though.

If it has different colours painted on the pipes......yellow', blue, red or green then it's a one piece filter housing that you change, ie, no filter element.

There's one under the drivers inner wing that has an element inside.

Apparently this Navara engine problem was down to the bearing shell material being faulty, according to the dealers, the one I use invited me into their workshop to show me the problem first hand.

I've had a few customers cars with this problem all of which were repaired under warranty (new engines fitted).

yes thats correct,it has the colour codes on the pipes,
on the inerwing further along, theres a small metal canister, iguess this is the lift pump, not sure here on these engines,
so anyinfo is much apreciated, thanks,

Not sure about the metal canister.

I've changed quite a few of those plastic housing type filters, they are fairly easy to change, though a little expensive compared to the cartridge type.
