No accidents due to the steering wheel fault have so far been reported but, according to the BBC, a Toyota spokesman has admitted that the problem could, in time, “result in a loss of steering ability”.
Where's a "laughing until you vomit" emoticon when you need one? This further recall so soon after the last is bound to cause problems for Toyota but – as with the last recall – one of the main reasons that the announcements have made headline news is Toyota’s enviable reputation for reliability.

I love this bit:Where's a "laughing until you vomit" emoticon when you need one? This further recall so soon after the last is bound to cause problems for Toyota but – as with the last recall – one of the main reasons that the announcements have made headline news is Toyota’s enviable reputation for reliability.
Sounds like a Woman driver to me"frequently and forcefully turned to the full lock position while driving at a very slow speed"
That looks like fun, just ram people & they get the hell out of the way
I think that's referring to the Firestone thing where they were failing but Ford took a remarkably long time to do anything about it (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Firestone_ ... ontroversy) and maybe the much earlier Ford Pinto thing where Ford knew that a rear end collision would likely make the car burst into flames but thought it would be cheaper to pay compensation than redesign and retool (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ford_Pinto ... ontroversy). But then most car manufacturers have had recalls for some pretty serious stuff, Mercedes all but scrapped their electric braking system due to the amount of recalls (which has since been taken up by Ford and, er, Toyota) and even PSA which I seem to remember had some flamability issues themselves with relation to the fuel tank inlet and our own 406s with the airbags wired up bass-ackwards.lozz wrote:and this one is just sarcastic,( bgut • 2 hours ago

+1 for Toyota, Ford are waiting on a fatality before recalling...
