Not quite, the paper (counter) part IS the licence as it records penalty points and stuff, the two licenses go together in effect.
Hang on, don't get confused between the paper counterpart of the photocard on the one hand and an old, paper driving license on the other.

My license was issued a long time before photocards were ever dreamed of and, since I still live at the same address (and never had any points :supafrisk: ), I've had no reason to get it altered in any way so it's still valid.

The wife however has had a change of name and a change of address (because she was silly enough to marry me and move in!) so she's got a photocard with a paper counterpart.

I've gotta say, I do fancy updating to a photocard just for convenience (because my paper one has literally fallen apart and is now sellotaped together, which means that I no longer carry it with me, which I believe is a minor offence in itself) but I just resent the fact that you're forced to pay for it.

Sorry for the rant.. I've calmed down now..

@Scotty, it was nowt to do with the cats mate, I was driving like a twat so that's what got me the tug

I'm going to wait for the paperwork to come through the post and then have them
Take it to court,

I'm leaving the car off the road until my photocard arrives, filled in the paperwork
Just gotta get a photo and take it to the post office..

I'm hoping I get off with the dangerous driving , as my wife is insured with me on a multi car policy
That's the only thing I'm bothered about ATM. Other than that id just take it on the chin

Its almost 1800 quid for her to get insured on her own..
She's hasn't spoke to me all day.. :frown:

Bloody hell I've just looked and found out my photo license expires soon  Didn't even realise it expired!

If it's any tiny consolation lozz, you've just saves me some serious trouble!
<steve_earwig> I think this forum is more about keeping our cars going with minimal outlay than giving our cars more reason to go bang

Sorry to hear that mate, :(

Send off for a new one a.s.a.p
If you don't get your new one back before the expiry date
Iwouidnt drive after working hours or bank holidays..

There's no back up from dvla otherwise, :(

All this driving licence b/s shouid be phased out IMHO
If someone's licenced why shouid we have to proove that when they've got it on the database
They can be metres away from a car and be able to tell what the owner of it has had for dinner

They're just cashing in on car. Owners as its easy meat..

Twats
