Indicator tick/tock noise gone?

Talk about the 406's electrical system, what wires do what, how to add extra functionality, etc.

Indicator tick/tock noise gone?

Post by maglite »

This has happened a few times now. What happens is, on my D9 when I use the signal stalk to signal left or right, there is no "tick/tock" noise. After approx 15 mins of driving it kicks in. Has this happened to anyone else? :?

May be a silly question, but are the indicators working normally when the noise isn't there?

I think the tick tock used to be the flasher unit itself in the good old days, but these days they have to have a separate means of generating the sound, so you've probably got a dodgy "speaker". :?

Have you used your hazard light button recently? :)

On the D8 at least the sound is generated by the relay for the lights. If there's no sound the likely cause is either a blown fuse or a dodgy connection on the hazard light button. As I've discovered when driving with half the dashboard off, disconnecting the hazard light button will stop the indicators from working as it's all part of the same circuit. Apparently it's the same situation on most cars...

Yeah, the indicators work ok, it's just the sound that drops out now and again. :? hmm.. I'm gonna have to do a little investigating and maybe get a Haynes manual for the D9.
