I'd have a go with the injector but I suspect that, without the right tools, I'd only damage it. The can be cleaned but not with a wire brush... Stick it in the car for a spare when you flog it
I'd suggest annealing but I'm not sure if it would be advisable for where it lives...
It's probably not a good idea - I did it and subsequently had a leak, (which jonsowman had to sort out).
MIne looked fine too, but the reason they're copper is so they can deform to to form a perfect seal, you can't really do it a 2nd time.
Also the copper will become less malleable with the temperature cycles of the engine.

2008 BMW E91 330i touring (great fun - murdered by a reversing SUV)
2007 BMW E91 325i touring (slower smoother quieter)
Refitted everything and tried to start. Nothing - just turning over. Looked in the engine bay and saw there was fuel leaking from the union on the injector. Tightened that up and the car started within two turns! Very happy - one of the most "sensitive" areas I've worked on on this car.
While fixing it though, I managed to lose a size 10 socket, a size 30 torx key and a plastic holder thing for the pipes somewhere in the engine bay. Looks like it's between the alternator and the engine block. Can't see a way to get to it, except removing the alternator and probably the alternator bracket. Not doing that....
Will try it with some magnetic tip ... else I'll just buy a new socket and a torx key. The new owner can have them.
Well done that man!
Get yourself one of those inspection mirrors with a telescopic handle and a magnet at t'other end.
Really handy when you drop the sump plug in the basin too....

Hasn't puggy got a few of those?
Well done indeed, you're a braver man than me I can tell you, we should probably warn the viewers NOT to attempt any work to the fuel rail and pipes with the engine running!
Are you "working from home" this week

Yes, definitely. My car was standing all night so I knew there was no pressure there.

Going to lunch to take the car for a run - I wonder if my occasional turbo boost problem will have been sorted as well with the new injector.
