Thank you, I haven't been shown or told (bar this thread) about the abs reluctor rings..dirtydirtydiesel wrote:Sonia, jonsowman wrote:Brake judder really sounds like ABS to me, especially the fact that it happens when coming to a stop and not at speed. It's a very distinctive noise and feel. Could be failed reluctor rings? Cheap and easy fix if so!
Have you been shown / told that your reluctor rings have split / failed ? .
If money's tight at the mo & trust me I know what that feels like.
Park pugster & put miss pug back to good use while you sort pugster at your time & conveiance.
+ miss pug will sell better with tax 'n' test when finished with her.
ps the horn fix is a dead easy, follow earwig's guide / I'll post my pic's tomorrow.
But that braking problem up front has literally - disappeared!
UPDATE:
It went to HiQ for a 'health check'
Dropped it off at 9am, picked up at 12 mid day. (Had that been Miss Pug I would NOT of left the site, this car? Dropped it off no problems, had a quick discussion as to what they would be checking (not a fooking lot tbh) and had no issues leaving it......)
Anyway, Health check came back with nothing new that I already knew to be honest...
2 front tyres (worn on inner side)
Recommend tracking
''Recommend front discs and pads, rear disks are scored, recommend replacing ((CROSSED OUT: when pads wear down)), handbrake needs adjusting and freeing off slightly seized. (Had to ask which side needs freezing. They say the drivers side, weird because all the wheel hub / handbrake noises are definitely my N/S!)
Everything else fine:
Exhaust condition (Well, it's only a month old right!)
Manifold stud conditions
Clamps, brackets, gaskets
Cat (visual check only)
Track rod ends
Gaitors (err, It's under the 'suspension and steering' section, by Gaitors do they mean CV boot wotsits? Surely they don't mean the steering rack gaitors?
Track control arm bushes
shock absorbers
Under brake section:
Fluid levels
pipes and hoses are all okay too
Under lubrication and cooling:
Engine oil level
Power steering fluid level
Hoses
Water level
washer bottle - all ok
Electrics
Lights / indicators
Wiper condition
Battery
Drive belts
Horn - are all okay.
SO - Have they REALLY looked at my drive belts, as I know for a fact the cam belt is due?
Have they really checked the horn or did they get lucky and press it in the right place for it to sound?
Rear calipers were not checked if they had seized and there was another thing that I wanted checked and that was not checked, probably the abs reluctor rings.......
Local APD have priced me up for disks and pads all around £111 including vat and a mobile mechanic is charging £50 in labour to not only fit them and bleed them but to adjust handbrake and free the handbrake cable too... Couldn't say no to that really could I?
Come on then boys, what do you make to this?
