Well done Kelv. 8)

New clutch and DMF fitted today - it was sort of nice to check the underside of the car while on ramps with the sub frame removed, everything looks okay.. 8)
The clutch bite is very low compared to what it was like before, maybe this will change in time..??

I suspect it'll settle to its proper biting point over the next few hundred miles :) Did with my old 2.1 (Valeo clutch).

Another update - must be crap on the telly....

The clutch and DMF seem fine but it seems I have lost a bit of power at the lower revs, and the steering is a bit heavier than it used to be. The car has been double checked by the garage and given the all clear - I've used contact cleaner on all the connectors I could see that may have been disturbed when the gearbox was removed. I've been doing research and the clutch/DMF only goes on one way so I guess its all good, its just that something isn't quite right.

Nothing shows up on PP2000, I've cleaned the TPS, changed the MAF, the MAP sensor, refurbished the fuel pressure sensor (which has made a small improvement) but does anyone know if the clutch has been badly adjusted? I know its hydraulic but could the heavy steering be connected to something being out of place?

The car has been brilliant otherwise, and its now using an IQ93 remap from ECUedit ( thanks again Eric ) - sadly until I resolve this power loss issue I won't really feel the benefit.... I still enjoy driving it, its just that I know it could be a better driving experience...

Oh, and I'm working on doing a budget oil cooler using bits left over from the Nicopipe modification :supafrisk:

Always crap on the telly.

Oddly enough my steering was a bit heavier after swapping the gearbox, just perceptibly so. There wasn't anything wrong with it and either I got used to it or it loosened up again, it's fine now. :?

Hope you get to the bottom of the power loss issue. I can't think what else to try, but if I do I'll let you know.

Looking forword to hearing how your oil cooler mod works out, (I seem to have a few of those).

Oh well, back to the intermittently not charging / suspect starter / dodgy coolant temp sensor / ABS/ESP fault ridden 807. :(

Hi Ben, thanks for the info - I did buy a set of seals and washers to refurbish the sensor, which was actually quite easy to do ( the green washers are a pack of 4! ) which did make a difference, and I'll probably do the wife's Picasso with one of the remaining washers next.

Maybe the car just needs to 'bed-in' a bit but I'll carry on using the car until I get an epiphany of some sort.

I have recorded 3 drives using autoscreenrecorder ( Parameters1, Parameters2 and a Parameters1 on a bypass blast... ) which I am happy to share, to see what other members think of the readings?

Hi Kelv,

I'd be happy to look at your readings and generate a set for comparison, if you can clue me in on how to get autoscreenrecorder up & running, (assuming my neolithic laptop can hack it).

Hi Ben, I have replaced the MAP but it was with a LMF brand, but I do seem to have a collection of old MAPs here so I can gradually work through them.
Failing that I have the VW MAP sensor for the power upgrade, I may take the plunge and fit this instead.
Cheers for the input.

Okay - well earlier tonight I swapped the MAP sensor with 4 other MAP sensors I had lying around and all had the same result.
I then tried 3 different solenoids with the same result...
Then I changed the complete throttle housing and TPS, with the same result.

I then slid under the car ( luckily I can just drive up a kerb and do it cos I'm a skinny one.. ) and there is a teeny tiny puff of air coming out from the join between the rigid turbo pipe and the rubber bottom intercooler hose - but its barely noticeable when there is a hell of a blow coming out of the air sock, just above the lower pipe, maybe my air sock is rubbish and starving the engine???

I'll remove the airbox from the sock and stick a piece of gutter pipe in to supply air, and see if it makes a difference.

Ben, thanks for the link, I'll have a peek but my computer skills are on par with my inability to stand up without making a noise.... :(

Right - I did a round trip last weekend of around 350 miles ( Bournemouth to Woolacombe Bay, then to Ashbarton estate in Braunton for a wedding, back to Woolacombe for a rest then home to Bournemouth ) and the car behaved itself. It still has the flat spot which I am still working on resolving but otherwise I'm well pleased. There was me, Mrs Magic and the 2 mini-Magics and a boot full of stuff and on the way there I was on for a 50mpg average but then it was getting a bit late so I had to get there soon so I drove with 'vigour' and the MPG was down to 46. There were numerous occasions where I could effortlessly overtake a slower vehicle which I wouldn't have attempted in the Picasso, and with the Cruise Control set at 65 - 70 even the biggest of hills was a breeze :cheesy:
Thats good enough for me, and considering the car sometimes doesn't move for weeks on end......

I am awaiting 2 gauges to be sent through the post ( still sorting out the correct ones. ) for a little project, copied, er I mean 'inspired' by Ben - watch this space.....

When I got in my car this morning I was greeted by this..

It has been getting worse for a few weeks now ( it was almost perfect before this ) so I bought this one from eBay for £20 inc. postage;

Its not a great deal better, but not bad for the price and at least I can read the trips.....
