Bought another one...

I have been missing the V6 a bit, so when this one came up, I thought "why not?" It's a 2002 Aegean Blue V6 SE, 92k on the clock, totally complete service history.

It's been very well looked after, just the usual stuff to be done to get it up to scratch! Less of a project than "it's not beige", since it actually runs and I drove it home (albeit on 5 cylinders) instead of having to hire a flatbed

To-do list:
1) Fix misfire (done, replaced coil #5)
2) Air con not working
3) Exhaust blowing, not sure where yet
4) Oil, filters & spark plugs due
5) Bodywork tidying (small crack rear bumper, couple of other dents)
6) Boot & bonnet gas struts
7) Crackling/bangs from the OEM Clarion Headunit

Just one pic at the mo, as I was rushing the get the coil replaced before dark. More to come...

Yes, thought I couldn't go far wrong there.

Will get a machine polisher on it once all the mechanicals are sorted.

Man buys V6 (ish) Coupe for price of a good night out...

Local man John Snowman shared his good luck story with his favorite Forum members by posting about a 2002 Peugeot 405 Coupe he bought after seeing it advertised with a number of faults.

"the geezer selling it thought the engine valves were stuck so I got a right good bargain" added Jon. The car cost £200 and was declared 'sold as seen' upon receipt, when John arrived home he changed a coil packet and was surprised to find the engine was actually fine "yeah this motor runs sweet and it only cost a score to put right" he said.

Cases like this are rare in the UK and Peter Von-Cambelt from the Automobile Association warned buyers to be aware of the dangers of buying cheap 406 Coupes; "these Pinin Farina styled models used to change hands for thousands back in the day but buyers should be aware of unscrupulous sellers trying to pass off supposed A1 condition cars to naive buyers failing to look past the stylish exterior". In this case Jon Showman clearly knew his field and was confident in his abilities but we would warn others to be aware and if in any doubt get a professional inspection done, it could save a lot of heartache further down the line.

Jon declined to reveal his plans for the car when asked.
