Just thought I'd add to this thread as I've just been quoted £200 for a full service inc. cam belt - thats for a 99 plate 2.0 16v. (All filters inc. Pollen, oil, aux belt, plugs/leads etc..). I've already found brand new genuine pug water pump for £30.

I only paid £1300 for the car so if I got a bill for £1200 I'd be selling it ASAP on ebay!

Where's that? The local Pug dealer quoted me £1300 upwards.

Becks in Hove (directly south of london on the coast). Mines a saloon but I can't see how it can make that much difference. Don't know if that includes all the other parts replacing (pulleys or something was it?) They wanted £500 for a clutch though last time I asked!

Was that for a V6 ????

It may be touch and go but I think the even adding in the fuel to get there it seems like a bargain

It certainly seems like a bargain - though I was under the impression that the rollers/tensioners needed replacing at the same time, so said the parts manager at Peugeot.

ok peeps, just found out something,
these garages tend to use the cam belt kit... but this kit dos'nt contain the bottom end bearing, aparently.
as these cost a bomb alone. is everyone getting the WHOLE job done right??

Don't you also have a law stating that when you are given a price for a job, the end price can't exceed 12-15%?

We have that kind of law in Norway, to protect customers.

So when they said like 815£(can't remember) to you, and end up experiencing troubles, they can only charge about 937£ or something?
