Symptom: High biting point (high pedal) but strangly no slip, even when pulling off in a high gear
Result: Abismal clutch control and unsmooth down changes
Question: Clutch worn out, or is there any adjustments that could made?
Car: X plate 2.0 petrol (62000 miles!)
Knowing my luck at the moment, if I fell into a bucket of tits; i'd come out sucking my thumb!
How much should a replacement clutch fitted by a general garage cost me?
I call her Starbug 1, because she's green with intergalactic milage!! I do love my D8 diesel.
I have had it looked at by my local garage today who gave me the bad news!.....................its gonna hurt!
Apparently being hydraulic, its more expensive as more new parts are required, he even talked about a dual mass flywheel (about £230 alone!!). So all in all I am looking at £600+.
I am starting to go off Peugeots!
Anyone else had a hydraulic clutch changed to the tune of £600!

You sure it doesn't just need bleeding or summat? 62K ain't much for a clutch to last, I'm sure there are stories on here of 200K clutches. Unless it's actually the DMF that's knackered?

I asked the mechanic if it could need bleeding, and he thought that its unlikely!? He did say that the cluch bites well, and doesn't slip, and the height of the pedal is just down to wear!
A bit confusing though is why when the reg number is put into the parts database, it comes back as a cabled clutch, but its hydraulic!!!
I just think that this car is going to (as we say in Cornwall) bring rags to me ass, and small pasties for tea!

Are they??

I've had new clutch and DMF on my HDI (at 148k). the bit is still at the very top of the peddle.
I wouldn't touch the clutch till it starts slipping (i could make mine slip at 60mph in 5th gear only). but could here the knock and squeek of the gone DMF. Didn't realise the petrols had dmf, though they had solid fhywheels.
Thats really shocking! Do you get used to driving it in the end? At the moment im pulling away like a learner due to the lack of "feel" to the clutch! They should have put it on a switch, clutch on, clutch off!!

I hope there is no DMF, at £230, I wouldn't want one either!
Why are cars soooo over-engineered these days? I can understand it to a degree, but for the general run around hack, I'd opt for simplicity!

I really hate the down-changes whilst slowing down in my HDi, at first you have the high bite and poor feel of the clutch then the revs have dropped like a stone, then you have to smoothly overcome the high resistance of the Diesel engine and make it all work togther
I have tried heel and towing which is a bit gay in a Diesel (but kind of works if you can be bothered) and I regularly 'blip' the throttle before a down change (if I'm not busy braking at the time).
I nice petrol engine which holds it's revs a bit longer makes for much more agreeable down changes, and a V6 petrol are even better here.
Actually then at the risk of highjacking this guy's thread........How do you drive yours?

Have to agree with V6exec on the old cargo clutches think i been very lucky
with the clutch on my hdi ,it bites quite low and in general the gear channges are
quite smooth apart from a bit of notchiness from third now and again
