Well main dealers have changed me ecu & said it had spiked the bsi so changed that as well now in for a £1300.00 bill
i knocked them down from £75.00 per hr + vat to £40.00 + vat but it seems that they have charged a lot more for changing the bsi than the ecu i was quoted £875.00 for ecu the bsi costs approx £200.00 so as you can see it looks like £ 200.00 labour charge for fitting the bsi. Where is it & how long does it take to change if anyone has access to a workshop scedule which peugeot gives times for various jobs i would be pleased to hear from you just so i can see whether they gave me a lower rate but cranked up the hrs.
thanks alan

Had a BSI replaced on a 206, that was £375 including diagnostics, parts, fitting and VAT.

I think they're taking the proverbial Alan. James has got Autodata which gives time for jobs etc so if he pops by he can tell you that info.

Re: ecu / bsi problems
not sure on the exact time, autodata wont list it, its not so much the fitting that costs, its the configuration and software installation that takes the time

If it's not a coupe, you'd be better off with a new car than a £1300 bill...
<steve_earwig> I think this forum is more about keeping our cars going with minimal outlay than giving our cars more reason to go bang

Re: ecu / bsi problems
Tricky that one - sometimes you get too far down the line with repairs and may aswell carry on. If I was SURE that my ECU/BSi were goosed then I would break the car for parts but only because it's worth about £1200.00 or so now.mjb wrote:If it's not a coupe, you'd be better off with a new car than a £1300 bill...
We keep saying this but the core mechanicals are super strong but let down by flakey electronics and 'computers' I predict an increase in major failures (D9's - just to keep mjb happy) over the coming couple of years as the oldest ones approach 10 years

Peugeot would say "what are you worried about? we made car that lasted 10 years"..."Zat is very goode non?"
