Trip Computer? - Where?

Talk about the 406's electrical system, what wires do what, how to add extra functionality, etc.

Trip Computer? - Where?

Post by johnfoss »

Hello again.....

I've got a D8 2.1td GLX, It's got a digital display above the climate control, which shows the outside temperature, is that all it does?

A lot of you talk about a trip computer, where is it, if I have one and how do I use it?

Thanks for the advice.

Apparently it can't be connected up on the diesel engines :(
You may be able to get some functions working but there is no connection for the live fuel data from the ECU :(

I too have a 2.1td GLX and wondered the same 6 years ago when I bought it,
I'm afraid you are correct in that yes, that is all it does. Now if you had got the "Executive" model then the panel is used for other things.

I wouldn't bother replying to threads 5 months old. Chances are the poster's question's been answered and/or they don't read the forum any more

Also you're wrong. The display IS the trip computer (except for the temperature-only models, utter poverty spec), it's just the TD engined cars don't have the signals available on the ECU to feed the computer with injector flow rate. Regardless of trim. In fact it's only GLXs as far as I'm aware that had the trip computer wired up on D8s. The Execs don't (but it can be retro-wired into the V6 and 2.0T petrol models)

Is it not just D8s with Bosch ECUs - ie all the petrols?
