There was something similar on What (we love fords) Car? last week. I didn't want to mention it because it's rather depressing. Maybe it'll force me to cycle more but my biggest worry is heating oil, the price of that's doubled since I came here and it cost me almost a grand to heat my house to a balmy 8 degrees last winter

Bloody hell. You'll have to convince your other half to move with you to warmer climes!

Broke my single fill up record on Friday. £76.30 for 70l of unleaded (and yes I used petrolprices.com to find the lowest price in the area 108.9p/l). You guys with your diseasels must be up at £84 a tank by now , although that should get you about 50% further than mine. I worked out that if the price does reach £1.50/l Friday's fill up would cost £105
I'm now seriously thinking about looking for a job on the doorstep that doesn't involve travelling.

BP and Shell may be more expensive, but you get a heck of a lot more mileage for your money which makes supermarket fuel a real false economy unless you're filling up a hire car prior to returning it
<steve_earwig> I think this forum is more about keeping our cars going with minimal outlay than giving our cars more reason to go bang

What BP and Shell selling Hydrogen or something?
They sell the same fuel from the same refineries as anywhere else btw.
The supermarkets have the supermarket shelves to support the cheaper fuel as the supermarkets call people in then people get fuel whilst they are there.
