Hi guys, hope you're having good ones. Sorry I've not got much nice to say just now but I think I might have a problem looming: All the time I've had the D8 I've never heard the turbo, i know its there 'cos I can feel what it does, but it's always been drowned out by the clatter of the engine. I can hear the HDi's, it's just lurking in the background there, nothing serious like echoing off of buildings etc. but it's there. Anyway, this evening we've been to town to see my in-laws and suddenly I can hear the turbo, maybe a tad louder than the HDi's. When I got back I parked it up, opened the bonnet and gave it a rev - loud whistling coming from under the car.
Seized egr? Imminent turbine self-destruction? Hole in the exhaust? Hole in air hose? Just my imagination runnin' away with me?? Farked if I know!
It was pitch dark both ways so I can't say I saw any smoke, engine temp normal, still pulls like a train, which makes me think about how I span the wheels twice without even trying (not allowed to floor it with the mrs on board anyway

) [completely ignorant of diesels]but I'm not even sure how the TD controls the boost pressure so I don't know if that's relevant.[/completely ignorant of diesels].
I suppose I'd better get it up in the air tomorrow and have a look-see (oh no, not again). I thought I'd better post on here first, in case I don't make it back alive...
