I fitted Venetian Blinds to my front windows, this way I can vary the amount of transmitted light into my car (not out from) from 100% to 0% 8) My interior is illuminated with 6x500w Halogen floods so when I close the blinds my light transmittance (out from, not into) my interior elements is controlled so I tell the others to "F" off too 8)

I think I could do with those blinds on the passenger side, no more "watch out for that (insert animate or inanimate object of choice here)!!" :|

When you shut teh blinds the light from outside went next door to illuminate their uptairs bedroom, if you open them again it should come back but I haven't tried this myself.

Hope this helps.

That's ok, glad to be of help.

I've just turned the lights off in my little office and stubbed my toe on the desk  when I turned the lights off (4x double flourescents 5' long) where did the light go? I thought it went behind the photocopier but when I looked it wasn't there :frown:

So long as nobody spots them staring through bedroom windows they get away with it, just leaves us the moral dilema.

Pretty much that if you can notice it on the front windows, it's illegal. Anything behind the window doesn't matter
<steve_earwig> I think this forum is more about keeping our cars going with minimal outlay than giving our cars more reason to go bang

The legal position is that the front side windows on all cars must allow 70% of light to pass through them. That figure also applies to the windscreens of cars first used before April 1985; any car first used from then onwards has to let 75% of light through the windscreen.
To bring that into perspective, most cars these days are supplied with tinted glass fitted as standard, generally between 15 and 25% tinted, so virtually any aftermarket tint fitted to the windscreen or front side windows will render that car illegal which might result in a prosecution and a fine of up to £2000.

Interesting article

What's wrong with sunglasses? Much cheaper than tinting and you can take them off when it gets dark too! :cheesy:
