Ouch

I bet that was painful!
I understand why you would be shy of getting on the horse again too soon.
17 Hands is huge, my daughter had a Clydesdale, he was huge, but a gentle giant.
My wife has a pony 14.2 hands. She is a very pretty show pony, Welsh x Arab. She is a pain sometimes, scared of her own shadow. She's about 7, my wife had her from a baby, she had her broken. She can be ridden on the road, but she's a bit nervy.
I bought a 4x4 to tow a trailer so that she could be taken to shows....the daft mare won't go in it, gave the trailer to my daughter then she had it nicked
I have some pictures of her on my facebook profile.
Good luck with the trip to Doncaster
If you are ever in Lancashire, you are welcome to ride her
