HOWTO: ES9J4 Clutch change

Post by mjb »

The guide is HUGE. I've put it straight into the KB and locked it so replies can be put on a thread that isn't so painfully big... like this one :)

viewtopic.php?f=10&t=8234

Enjoy :)

It almost takes that long to read through and digest the info contained within!

Very comprehensive guide though, good work MJB. Shame I don't have a V6!

Regarding that long bolt fitted to the gearbox for the mounting, this can be removed using a stud extractor that is normally used for removing cylinder head studs from cylinder blocks...just like the old type mini engines and such. That was the tool that I used for removing it.

Don't be put off by the huge amount of work involved, the none V6 models are easier to do.

Can you do us a HUGE favour and find a link to a suitable item on machinemart.co.uk or similar please? I'd love to add that to the top of the HOWTO!

If you follow the HOWTO, you can cut out about 80% of the work I did getting into messes with stuff I didn't get right

It's really not too bad when you understand the process. Just those goddamn wheelarch liner screws... grrr...

Sounds like a plan, I'll bring the Lexia/pp2000 setup for a play too 8)

Got to have a go at my dad's tubby first though... I'll scope up the clutch change work while I'm at it :)
