Regens are, AFAIK, more fequently triggered by increased differential pressure, but are also initiated on the basis of kms since last regen - there's a kind of sliding scale which starts at 1200-1500 kms with a new FAP and reduces steadily throughout its life, as the various ecu's try to reach a compromise between keeping the FAP clean and making the Eolys last. Mine certainly still tries to do it, but much less orften, (characterised by a smell of singed eggsauce mounting rubbers when you stop).
I've heard it maintains a count of failed regens, (which I guess all mine are) and presumably at some point will complain about it......
Mine has a FAP blocked warning light and can generate,
'UNBLOCK DIESEL FILTER' &
'DIESEL ADDITIVE LOW' messages - none of which it is doing.
Fluid won't run out as additive pump is disconnected, but it still 'thinks' it's being added. I realise it will complain when it exceeds the number of 'shots' it thought it had to start with.

It's also got a low level sensor, but that's still wired in.
....I'm now playing e-mail tennis with Chinese PP2000 clone supplier.
