no heater

Talk about the 406's electrical system, what wires do what, how to add extra functionality, etc.

common as muck bud

With mine there is a white connector block behind the glove box that was shorting out - obvious from the scorched markings on the connector.
It blew the 50a fuse which is located in the engine bay fuse box.
I had the connector replaced with some heavy duty connectors and replaced the fuse - no more problems for me
1999 D8.5 HDi GLX - Sold :(

2007 Mondingo Zetec - I seek forgiveness :( Bring back my 406

right guys after more tinkering ive removed the old motor and tested it  only to find its working fine
ive now check for + v to the motor when its switched on but its showing no voltage

refering to the ignition switch what part of the switch was defective on your car ?
could you be a bit more precise as to what needed looking at pics even ?

thanx steve

right then guys the heater is now fixed
was just a case of following the grey wire from the ignition switch to the connector on the motor cut said wire at both ends and solder new wire in of same dimension as the old and hey presto we now have working heaters
